Formula 1 is looking for a Data Centre Technician to support the Race Engineering & Infrastructure team at its Biggin Hill office. The role involves installation and troubleshooting of cabling systems, monitoring data centre operations, and providing technical support during events. Ideal candidates will have several years of relevant experience and strong problem-solving skills.

We are recruiting for a Data Centre Technician for our Race Engineering & Infrastructure team on a 12 month FTC who would be based at our Biggin Hill office. Do you have what it takes to be part of the world’s greatest sport and entertainment spectacle?
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day and event support at the F1 Media and Technology Centre (M&TC)Install, terminate, and test copper and fibre optic cables (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, fibre optic)Perform troubleshooting, fault-finding, and repairs on cabling systemsWork alongside the Technical services team to provide data centre support to teams at the M&TCEnsure proper labelling and documentation of equipment & cabling infrastructure.Capacity planning: Monitoring data centre capacity and forecasting future needsMonitor and assist with building site monitoring systems to ensure smooth operation in technical areasProvide routine checks in technical areas and respond to alarmsInstall & test rack and technical workstation power distribution equipment and cablingMaintain detailed records of the data centre and technical area configurationsCarry out racking/stacking of equipment, patching, break fix tasks, decommissioning, infrastructure installations & rack modificationsDay-to-day management of the DCIM softwareCreating, Maintaining and supporting technical centre processesProvide service desk support on technical centre work requests
Specification Essentials:
5 years of experience working in a Data Centre environmentExperience working with and managing DCIM platforms (Sunbird, Nlyte etc.)Comprehensive knowledge of Copper and Fibre cabling systems in a data centre environmentAbility to use cable testing and certification tools (Fluke, OTDR, etc.)Patching of equipment (power and connectivity)Have worked with low voltage power systems and have experience with UPSs, power distribution and generatorsExperience working in a live broadcast environmentsUnderstanding of fire and life safety systems (Vesda and Inergen)BMS & SCADA SystemsTroubleshooting expertise in server and storage hardware, network cabling & protocols (TCP/IP/SNMP), power and cooling systems.24-7 shift work experienceAbility to work under pressure unsupervised or as part of a teamExcellent problem-solving and communication skillsGood organisation and record keeping skillsFull UK/EU Driving License
