Job summary

A leading technology company in Slough is seeking a Data Centre Technician who will be responsible for troubleshooting facility issues and ensuring compliance with safety procedures. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years of experience in both computer hardware and networking, possess relevant certifications, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. This role offers opportunities to enhance troubleshooting skills and contribute to the operation of AWS global infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Computer Hardware and Computer Networking.
  • Familiarity with data centre operations such as racking, stacking, and cable management.
  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle required.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs.
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Respond to emergency calls per on-call rotation.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.

A unique opportunity to join AWS as a Data Centre Technician. You will become the primary resolver for your support team, and gain troubleshooting skills on one or more operating systems. You will be able to troubleshoot and solve all but the most complex infrastructure issues.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal Service-Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work
  • Respond to off hour emergency calls per on call rotation for any one of the region’s sites
  • Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies
  • Must be commutable to the Thames Valley Region
Requirements
  • 3+ years of Computer Hardware experience
  • 3+ years of Computer Networking experience
  • Associate’s degree or higher in IT-related field applicable certifications or/and equivalent professional or military experience
  • Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications
  • Experience with CISCO, Juniper and other commodity networking devices
  • Previous experience working in a Data Centre environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment)
  • All candidates must possess a valid driver's license, their own vehicle, and will need to pass a driving record check to operate company vehicles
