Job description

You'll join a small team who are responsible for the safe & orderly running of our data centre environment used for developing and testing IBM products.

You'll also be key to supporting our worldwide development, support and test teams who depend on our data centre environment.

Your role and responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to support colleagues spread across the world who make use of our data centre in Hursley.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Ensure the data centres are safe and tidy, reporting any issues observed
  2. Assist in the hardware build of new products
  3. Support our worldwide teams' requests for configuration changes within test configurations within the data centres
  4. Manage hardware and component inventory within the data centres
  5. Support incoming and outgoing shipments to/from our partners and worldwide teams
Required education

Preferred education

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise
  1. Experience working with Excel
  2. Accurate and timely record keeping
  3. Able and willing to safely move large and heavy hardware
  4. Experience working within a data centre environment
Preferred technical and professional experience
  1. Experience working with servers, storage, and networking technologies
  2. Able to install data and power cables in a safe and tidy manner
  3. Experience installing and removing hardware within 42U rack cabinets
  4. Experience administering and supporting Linux & VMware
