Role Title: Data Centre Technical Operations Engineer

Location: London, Onsite

Contract duration: 6 months

Our client is seeking a collaborative electrical maintenance professional for their Web Services Team.

This engineering operations technician position serves as the on-site maintenance technician and operator for a data centre.

The Data Centre Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is responsible for operating and maintaining all electrical, mechanical, emergency generator, and fire/life safety equipment within the data centre. The EOT serves as a technical resource to support the client within its data centres. Data centre equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. EOTs are also tasked with driving innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities.

Key job responsibilities

Responsibilities:

1. Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment
2. Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
3. Perform limited maintenance tasks including: filter changes, HVAC preventive maintenance, rack power installations, rack PDU, and rack ATS replacements
4. Provide support to Data Centre Operations technicians
5. Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
6. Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to during work
7. Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/logs (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)
8. Utilise internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare part inventory
9. Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance
10. Respond to off-hour emergency calls per on-call rotation for any of the region’s sites
11. Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies
