Job description

Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary team working with Data Centre clients across both Hyperscale and Colocation, as well as Enterprise projects across Europe. These projects are led from our specialist data centre team based in the UK, in conjunction with local teams across Europe to ensure localisation and permitting delivery, along with global design teams providing resources and capability.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong technical background in the DC sector who can lead multi-disciplinary architectural and engineering projects with a key client at the Director level.

In this role, you will oversee internal commercial and contractual governance for the client, ensuring compliance with internal processes, managing risks, and ensuring profitable project delivery. You will be the primary contact for a high-profile client across multiple data centre projects, driving technical excellence, managing delivery teams, and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high standards.

This position offers a platform to influence and shape the future of AECOM’s data centre delivery capability at a senior level. The role is flexible within the UK/Ireland, ideally based near London, Dublin, or Manchester, with travel within UK/I and Europe required. Living locally or willingness to relocate is preferred.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Leading a portfolio of data centre projects across Europe from delivery, technical, and commercial perspectives.
  2. Acting as the escalation point for client and internal teams across all project stages.
  3. Managing commercial performance, governance, and compliance.
  4. Coordinating bids and supplier requests, ensuring collaboration across disciplines.
  5. Leading strategic meetings, financial reviews, and reporting to senior leadership.
  6. Ensuring consistency and quality in all deliverables, resource management, and proactive resolution of technical issues.

Ideal candidate profile:

  • A Chartered Engineer or equivalent with a strong technical background in the data centre sector.
  • Experienced in leading complex, multi-disciplinary design projects (AEC, MEP, Civil/Structural).
  • Excellent communicator and relationship builder capable of engaging at director level.
  • Commercially astute with experience in risk management, governance, and profitability.
  • Willing to travel across UK/I and Europe as needed.

Qualifications include:

  • Deep understanding of building systems, regulations, contracts, and construction types.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Microsoft Office, and digital collaboration platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of design workflows and managing fast-paced projects.
  • Valid driving licence and ability to manage competing priorities.
