Job summary

PRS LTD is seeking an Electrical Shift Engineer to join a high-profile data centre in Docklands, London, on a continental shift. The role requires electrical qualifications and experience in critical environments, with responsibilities spanning maintenance of UPS, generators, LV distribution and BMS.

You will work as part of a continental shift team to ensure 24/7 operation, safety, and compliance, and you may be involved in site meetings and documentation at a professional engineering level.

Qualifications

• Fully electrically qualified with City & Guilds Level 2/3.
• 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations knowledge.
• Experience in commercial building maintenance or critical environments.
• Strong knowledge of UPS, generators, LV distribution.
• Experience with HV/LV systems and electrical fault finding.
• Good understanding of HVAC, AHUs, FCUs and BMS.
• Experience in 24/7 operations is desirable.
• Data centre experience is advantageous.
• Ability to complete maintenance documentation and RAMS.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
• Respond to electrical and mechanical faults and emergency callouts.
• Monitor and maintain critical electrical infrastructure.
• Inspect and test LV electrical systems and power distribution.
• Maintain UPS systems, generators and critical power infrastructure.
• Work with BMS and monitor building services systems.
• Perform emergency lighting testing and maintenance.
• Fault-find on electrical systems, lighting, wiring and controls.
• Support AHUs, FCUs and HVAC system maintenance.
• Assist with routine fire alarm and life-safety checks.
• Complete site logbooks, maintenance records, permits and RAMS.
• Ensure works follow site procedures and safety standards.
• Attend client meetings and maintain a professional, customer‑focused approach.
• Support broader engineering team with building services duties.
• Escalate critical faults per site procedures.
