RED is seeking a Principal Design Manager to be based out of our London, Bicester or Newcastle office. You will lead a design team across projects, ensure quality and contract compliance, and drive profitability and client satisfaction in complex environments.

Qualifications

• BEng in appropriate engineering discipline.
• MCIBSE/MIEE/IMechE professional membership.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) status.
• 10+ years’ experience at Senior Engineer level or above.
• Experience developing and implementing design management tools and procedures.
• Proven experience with design teams and project collaboration.
• Ability to mentor and develop a team to achieve goals.
• Strong client and supplier relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide and maintain high quality client facing relationships and internal management, team leadership and project delivery.
• Ensure compliance and quality assurance across projects.
• Lead and mentor the project team and manage sub-consultants.
• Support project delivery, performance reviews and business development.
• Ensure project performance and profitability aligned with business objectives.
• Chair meetings and oversee design programmes and tender/contract procedures.
• Monitor design progress, risk, and deliverables; manage invoicing and cash flow projections.
