Job summary

PRS is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager for data centres and mission-critical environments. The role requires leading L1–L6 commissioning, challenging designs, and coordinating with engineers, vendors and contractors to ensure testable, safe systems.

You will drive pre-construction assurance, oversee commissioning dossiers and defect management, and mentor teams across international data centre portfolios, enabling high reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Strong data centre/mission-critical commissioning experience.
• Excellent mechanical and/or electrical engineering knowledge.
• Proven experience managing complex commissioning programmes.
• Strong knowledge of FAT, SAT, IST and L1–L6 commissioning principles.
• Experience working with CxAs, contractors, vendors and consultants.
• Strong design-review and technical assurance capability.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning reviews with design teams and vendors.
• Chair commissioning meetings with multiple stakeholders.
• Directly manage L1–L6 commissioning activities and commissioning dossiers.
• Ensure designs are commissionable and maintainable before construction begins.
• Drive risk, quality and compliance during handover to operations.

COMMISSIONING MANAGER – DATA CENTRE DIRECT / Mission Critical

• We need a Commissioning Manager who understands Data Centres and the mission-critical environment.

You should have a strong technical background within mission-critical / data centre environments, ideally with a Mechanical or Electrical engineering foundation.

We’re particularly interested in professionals who have worked across colocation, hyperscale or large-scale critical infrastructure projects.

You’ll ideally have strong knowledge of:

Electrical Systems

HV / MV / LV distribution, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, STS, PDU systems, protection systems and critical power infrastructure.

Mechanical Systems

Chillers, cooling systems, CRAH / CRAC, pumps, heat rejection, mechanical distribution and associated controls.

Controls & Monitoring

BMS, EPMS, DCIM, controls integration and the interaction between mechanical, electrical and monitoring systems.

L1–L5 commissioning, L6 / IST, FAT, SAT, functional performance testing, test scripts, commissioning records, defect management and commissioning dossiers.

Design Assurance – Your Experience Matters

One of the key aspects of this position is ensuring that commissioning is considered before construction begins.

You’ll be expected to challenge designs and ask the difficult questions:

Can this actually be commissioned?

Can it be safely isolated and tested?

Does the design support maintainability?

Are the resilience strategies genuinely testable?

Have the interfaces between systems been properly considered?

Will the operational team be able to safely operate and maintain the completed facility?

You’ll therefore need a solid understanding of the entire data centre lifecycle, from pre-construction and design through construction, commissioning and operational handover.

The Perfect Candidate

We’re looking for someone who is technically credible, commercially aware and confident enough to challenge the status quo.

You won’t be someone who simply follows a commissioning checklist.

You’ll be capable of walking into a design review and challenging the proposed solution, leading a commissioning meeting with multiple stakeholders and then getting into the technical detail with an engineer, vendor or contractor when something isn’t performing as expected.

You’ll bring:

• Strong data centre / mission-critical commissioning experience.
• Excellent Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering knowledge.
• Proven experience managing complex commissioning programmes.
• Strong knowledge of FAT, SAT, IST and L1–L6 commissioning principles.

Experience within hyperscale, colocation, pharmaceutical, healthcare, advanced manufacturing or other mission-critical environments will also be considered where the commissioning experience is directly transferable.
