Job summary

A leading global technology firm in Swindon seeks a Data Centre Technician to troubleshoot and resolve facility issues. Candidates must have 3+ years of hardware and networking experience, as well as an associate’s degree in an IT field. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.

A unique opportunity to join AWS as a Data Centre Technician. You will become the primary resolver for your support team, and gain troubleshooting skills on one or more operating systems. You will be able to troubleshoot and solve all but the most complex infrastructure issues.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal Service-Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work
  • Respond to off hour emergency calls per on call rotation for any one of the region’s sites
  • Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies

Regular work schedule is Monday to Friday, with participation in an on-call rotation and requirement to provide shift coverage during emergencies.

Requirements
  • 3+ year of Computer Hardware experience
  • 3+ years of Computer Networking experience
  • Associate’s degree or higher in IT-related field applicable certifications or/and equivalent professional or military experience
  • Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications
  • Experience with CISCO, Juniper and other commodity networking devices
  • Previous experience working in a Data Centre environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment)
  • All candidates must possess a valid driver's license, their own vehicle, and will need to pass a driving record check to operate company vehicles
