Job summary

Google is seeking an Operations Technician in the United Kingdom to install, configure, test and maintain hardware and server software across Google's data center infrastructure. You'll work hands-on with racks, servers and networking components, applying safety protocols while supporting the AI and Infrastructure teams that power Google Cloud and other services.

The role emphasizes collaborative problem solving, project work with cross-functional teams, and occasional travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with computer hardware and server hardware or troubleshooting/diagnosing.
• Experience with operating systems and networking protocols.
• Experience in project management and working with cross-functional stakeholders and leaderships.
• Ability to participate in material handling tasks such as lifting, carrying or moving up to 50 lbs of equipment, the required use of safety equipment such as limited weight bearing work platforms, ladders, step stools and personal protective equipment (PPE) like safety harnesses in accordance with safety and ergonomic guidelines and assessments.

• Contribute to and lead efforts/projects in the deployment, maintenance and support of Google Cloud region (e.g., cloud data center) infrastructure.
• Lead troubleshooting and resolve critical or escalated technical issues regarding affected equipment.
• Help test and troubleshoot new server hardware components and designs.
• Configure and troubleshoot OS-related issues on server.
