Data Center Operations designs, installs & maintains the world’s largest Cloud Computing Infrastructure.

We are looking for a skilled Data Center Technician with a passion for technology to help us expand our Cloud to the next level.

This role provides a unique opportunity to work in some of the most high-tech data centers in the world. Amazon data centers are large-scale high-density centers where you will be working on shaping the future of Cloud technology in the region.

Amazon Data Centers prioritize customer data security and integrity. Selected candidates must be able to perform repetitive tasks consistently and adhere to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure customer data is protected and properly handled.

Key job responsibilities
Problem Solving
  • Maintain high system reliability by efficiently prioritizing and resolving trouble tickets
  • Serve as an escalation point and technical troubleshooter for all Systems and Network hardware problems
  • Escalate issues to senior technicians and management as needed
Technical
  • Troubleshoot technical issues across various platforms, including Systems and Networking
  • Remediate physical layer outages for Systems & Network
  • Deep dive into Linux server issues
  • Participate in Data Center power & cooling events
Operations
  • Follow security and safety best practices in the data center
  • Meet 24x7 On-Call requirements and respond during shift rotations
  • Install & configure racks of hosts according to internal SLAs
  • Triage & resolve trouble tickets for all devices in your region
  • Act as Data Center point of contact for high severity issues
  • Physically replace server and network device parts
  • Interact with third-party vendors & contractors
  • Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency
  • Engage with Remote Hands & Eyes
  • Participate in team meetings for metric analysis and project updates
  • Assist in building the world’s largest Cloud infrastructure

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for designing, planning, delivering, and operating all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and equipment, ensuring continuous access to our services. Basic qualifications
  • Hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledge of Booting processes: POST, BIOS, PXE, Kickstart, GRUB / LILO, RAID
  • Experience with network protocols: TCP/IP, Ethernet, Layer 2 & Layer 3 troubleshooting
  • Experience with network hardware: copper and optical fiber cabling, switches, routers
  • Strong communication skills
  • Passion for IT infrastructure and hardware
  • Ability to lift and rack equipment up to 18 kilos; capable of working in cramped or elevated spaces following health & safety guidelines

Position is shift-based, requiring rotation to ensure 24x7 coverage.

Preferred qualifications
  • Remote access tools: Console routers, IPMI, BMC
  • Network equipment installation and troubleshooting
  • Redundancy systems: Power feeds, ATS, server hardware, RAID, network connectivity
  • Data center operations: inventory management, hot/cold aisle management, security
  • Proficiency with Excel for data manipulation and chart creation
  • Experience with project management
  • Knowledge of AWS products: EC2, EBS, S3, etc.
  • Scripting skills: Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, or other programming languages
