Data Center Operations Technician, Data Center Operations

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continuous access to innovation. We work on challenging problems with many variables impacting the supply chain and seek talented individuals to join us.

You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and others. You’ll collaborate across AWS to uphold safety and security standards while providing high capacity at low cost, fostering an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas and ownership.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is rapidly growing, and we are looking for a Data Center Technician to join our Infrastructure Operations team.

Data Center Operations involves designing, installing, and maintaining large-scale computing infrastructure, including systems, repairs, issue resolution, parts management, and data center maintenance. Our data centers are high-density facilities where you will help shape technology in the region.

In this role as a Data Center Operations Technician, your responsibilities include:

  1. Working as part of the Operations team to maintain data center infrastructure.
  2. Installing server racks, troubleshooting hardware components, resolving network issues, and responding to operational incidents.
  3. Handling trouble tickets, providing first-line hardware troubleshooting, and addressing technical issues.
  4. Participating in scheduled maintenance, change management, and on-call duties.
  5. Engaging in team meetings for metric analysis and goal setting.
  6. Adhering to safety and security policies and procedures.
  7. Documenting technical issues and contributing to process improvements.
  8. Training less experienced team members as appropriate.

A typical day involves:

  1. Supporting data center equipment such as racks, servers, networking devices, and cables.
  2. Following ticket-based instructions for problem resolution and routine hardware operations.
  3. Participating in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
  4. Troubleshooting and problem solving.
  5. Maintaining cleanliness in operational areas.
  6. Covering 24x7 shift rotations.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Experience in computer/server hardware troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of computer networking, including fiber troubleshooting.

  • Basic understanding of data center facilities and Linux/Unix scripting.
