Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Data Center Junior Shift Technician to operate and maintain critical facility systems in our Hayes data centre. The role involves responding to alarms, monitoring building management and power systems, and performing scheduled maintenance within a high-availability environment.

The ideal candidate will hold a verifiable engineering trade qualification, show initiative, and communicate effectively with clients and contractors.

Qualifications

• A verifiable trade qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience working on site or in a facility management environment, preferably in a critical environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with clients and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Train in the operation and maintenance of all critical facility systems.
• Areas include electrical, mechanical, building monitoring and control.
• Monitor EPMS, BMS, and Fire System alarms and respond promptly.
• Operate, monitor, maintain and respond to abnormal conditions in critical facility systems.
• Perform preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance on LV/HV power systems.
• Ensure subcontractors are inducted and permitted to work.
• Keep documents library and workshop tidy and up to date.
• Develop site-specific procedures including EOPs, SOPs, MOPs and drills.
• Adhere to quality, health & safety and environmental policies.
• Report health and safety breaches via the Hazard process.

Qualifications, Experience And Character

• A fully verifiable trade qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, Including those working towards a qualification and those with a high desire to become a fully qualified Data Centre Technician.
• High Work rate and motivated individual showing great attitudes and wanting to learn.
• Experience working on site or in a FM facility, preferably exposure to a critical work environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with the Client and with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data centre systems.
• Computer literate with the ability to compile and submit monthly and annual reports, and to monitor and trend operational characteristics (load, capacity, environmental conditions etc). Good working ability on Microsoft Office Products.
• The ability to learn quickly and to gain maximum benefit from extensive training and development programs aimed at ensuring that any identified knowledge or experience deficiencies are addressed in the short term.
• Availability to work shift and to provide emergency cover as required.
• Organised, able to effectively prioritise and deliver within a dynamic and high pressure, business critical environments
• Self-motivated, with ability to work on own initiative
• Must have a high level of energy, be self- starters, confident and stable in manner
• Basic understanding of LV power distribution.
• Keen attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem solving.
• Willingness to learn, take direction and grow within the team.
• Team-oriented but also capable of working independently when required.

Responsibilities Include And Not Limited To

• Train in the operation and maintenance of all critical facility systems.
• Areas include: Electrical, Mechanical, Building Monitoring and Control.
• Monitor the EPMS, BMS, and Fire System alarms and respond to in a timely manner
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in critical facility systems
• Perform preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance on state of the art medium and low voltage high availability power systems
• Ensure all subcontractors are inducted and permitted to work
• Ensure that the documents library & Workshop are clean and tidy at all times
• Provide input into and develop site specific procedures including EOPs, SOPs, MOPs, Aps and EOP Drills
• Adherence to all quality, health & safety, and environmental policies
• Report health and safety breaches through the ‘HAZARD’ process
• Be fully familiar with site escalation procedures and the Incident Reporting process
