Job Title: Data Centre Engineer

Duration: 06+ Months

Role Purpose

We are seeking a Data Centre Engineer to join our bank’s IT team and support the management, maintenance, and security of our critical data center infrastructure. This role involves designing, implementing, and overseeing secure, scalable, and resilient data center infrastructure across the bank’s data centers and offices. The engineer will play a key role in supporting the data center infrastructure, ensuring operational success, and mentoring team members.

About the role

• Reporting to the Data Centre Engineering Manager, responsible for:

Day-to-day DC Operations

• Leading the operations of the data center environments.
• Ensuring operational continuity and reporting, managing DC Engineers and third-party services.
• Maintaining high standards of the data center's appearance.

Technical Responsibilities

• Managing financial budgets for on-premises services.
• Creating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Maintaining infrastructure asset management and lifecycle reports.
• Keeping documentation audit-ready.
• Capacity management including power and space planning.
• Supporting incident and problem management with the CTO team.
• Assisting with hardware replacements and RMA tasks.
• Managing business requirements and internal cabling.
• Promoting cross-departmental collaboration.
• Serving as escalation point for technical issues.

Vendor and Stakeholder Management

• Collaborating with vendors and stakeholders for seamless integration.

Incident and Change Management

• Leading incident response and root cause analysis.
• Planning and overseeing upgrades and changes.
• Developing SLAs and service request processes.

Project Management

• Managing network projects and strategic planning.
• Ensuring preventative maintenance is completed timely.

Reporting

• Assisting with monthly data center power and capacity reports.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields or equivalent experience.
• Experience in technology and operations, preferably in banking or financial services.
• Understanding of security protocols and compliance standards.
• Experience in data center operations or similar roles.
• Strong process management and incident management skills.
• Experience managing third-party vendors and budgets.
• Knowledge of health and safety, ISO standards, and data center customer installations.
• Attention to detail and high personal standards.
