Job summary

Roc Technologies is seeking a Data Cabling Installation Engineer to deliver structured cabling and network infrastructure projects for diverse clients across the UK. You will work with experienced engineers to ensure installations are safe, timely, and meet high industry standards.

The role requires experience with Cat5e/6/6A cabling, containment systems, and Fluke testing. A valid UK driving licence and SC/DV clearance eligibility are essential; join a team delivering mission-critical

Qualifications

• Proven experience installing and terminating structured copper cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A).
• Experience testing and certifying cabling installations using Fluke equipment.
• Strong understanding of containment systems (steel/PVC).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and installation plans.
• Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork.
• Full UK driving licence and eligibility for SC/DV clearance.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure network cabinets and communications racks.
• Build and install primary and secondary containment systems.
• Install, terminate, test, certify, and label structured cabling (Cat5e/6/6A).
• Carry out fibre optic and copper cabling installations.
• Install and patch network switches and associated infrastructure.
• Perform testing and fault-finding with industry-standard equipment.
• Maintain installation documentation and test results.
• Ensure work complies with industry standards, project specs, and customer expectations.
• Adhere to health, safety, and quality procedures at all times.

The Role

As a Data Cabling Installation Engineer, you'll play a key role in the delivery of structured cabling and network infrastructure projects for a diverse range of clients. Working alongside experienced engineers and project teams, you'll help ensure installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and configure network cabinets and communications racks
• Build and install primary and secondary containment systems
• Install, terminate, test, certify, and label Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A structured cabling systems
• Carry out fibre optic and copper cabling installations
• Install and patch network switches and associated infrastructure
• Perform testing and fault-finding activities using industry-standard equipment
• Maintain accurate installation documentation and test results
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with industry standards, project specifications, and customer expectations
• Adhere to health, safety, and quality procedures at all times

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience installing and terminating structured copper cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A)
• Experience testing and certifying cabling installations using Fluke testing equipment
• Strong understanding of containment systems, including steel and PVC solutions
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and installation plans
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Eligibility to obtain Security Check (SC) and Developed Vetting (DV) clearance

Desirable Skills

• Fibre optic installation, termination, and testing experience
• OTDR testing knowledge and experience
• Experience working in secure, enterprise, or mission-critical environments
• ECS/CSCS card holder
