Data Architect – Data Retention & Deletion – SC Cleared
SR2 is partnering with a government department to support a large data transformation programme. We’re hiring a Data Architect with specific expertise in data retention and deletion to help deliver a critical compliance and lifecycle management workstream.
This role blends strategic architecture, policy interpretation, and consulting to deliver effective and compliant data lifecycle frameworks across large-scale, sensitive estates.
Due to the nature of the role, candidates will require active SC clearance.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of retention/deletion strategies in complex data environments




• Translate policies (e.g. GDPR, FOI) into system-level rules and metadata frameworks




• Conduct discovery and classification of legacy and non-compliant data assets




• Work closely with legal, policy, and governance teams to define lifecycle triggers




• Provide architectural oversight across metadata tagging, automation and auditability




• Support adoption of tooling (Informatica EDC/Axon or equivalents)




• Operate in agile, cross-functional teams with civil servants and delivery partners

Core Requirements

• Proven experience delivering data retention & deletion initiatives in the public sector or large-scale organisations




• Strong policy interpretation and discovery skills – able to map legislation into technical actions




• Familiarity with data governance tools such as Informatica, Collibra, or Azure Purview




• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills




• Strong consulting mindset – able to advise, influence, and lead policy-to-implementation journeys




• Agile delivery experience in secure, complex government environments
