Job summary

LA International is seeking a Data Architect for a 6 month contract in Warwick, onsite. The role supports a long-term program with extensions and focuses on designing and governing enterprise data architectures to enable a Data Mesh approach.

Data Architect 6 Month contract initially + Extensions Based: Max 3 days p/w Onsite in Warwick Rate - £Market rates (Flexible) p/d via Umbrella

Key Responsibilities:

• Define, maintain, and govern the enterprise data architecture strategy aligned to the business and technology objectives.
• Lead the design and evolution of data architecture supporting the transition to a Data Mesh approach.
• Establish data architecture principles, standards, and best practices across the organization.
• Provide architectural leadership for enterprise data platforms, analytics, and AI initiatives.
• Ensure data solutions are scalable, secure, interoperable, and compliant with regulatory and governance requirements.
• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to translate business requirements into future-state data architecture designs.
• Drive consistency across data domains, products, models, and integration patterns.
• Support data governance initiatives, including data quality, metadata management, lineage, and master data management.
• Review and approve architecture designs, ensuring adherence to enterprise architecture standards.
• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership teams on data strategy, architecture, and technology decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve data accessibility, reusability, and business value across the enterprise.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Extensive experience as a Data Architect, Enterprise Data Architect, or Lead Data Architect within large-scale enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of modern data architecture principles, including Data Mesh, Data Fabric, and cloud-based data ecosystems.
• Proven experience designing and governing enterprise-wide data platforms and data operating models.
• Deep knowledge of data modelling, data integration, metadata management, and data governance practices.
• Experience supporting regulatory and compliance requirements within complex organizations.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence senior business and technology leaders.
• Experience working across data engineering, analytics, business intelligence, and AI functions.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making capabilities.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:

• Experience within regulated industries such as Energy, Utilities, Financial Services, or Telecommunications.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• TOGAF, DAMA, or equivalent architecture and data management certifications.
• Experience implementing Data Mesh principles and domain-oriented data ownership models.
• Familiarity with data governance and enterprise architecture frameworks.
