Job summary

FBI &TMT seeks an experienced Data Architect to establish an enterprise data capability within our Digital Technology function in Harlow. You will shape the data architecture vision and roadmap, driving a new platform designed for core-system integration and compliant data practices.

You will lead a small data team and collaborate with enterprise architects, delivery teams, and system owners to deliver secure, scalable data solutions in a hybrid, 12-month fixed-term role.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Data Architect in a regulated environment.
• Track record designing and implementing enterprise data platforms.
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, integration patterns, governance, data quality, and security controls.
• Experience selecting and implementing modern data technologies (cloud data platforms, pipelines, storage, catalogs).
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills with senior levels.
• Ability to drive a data agenda in environments with legacy systems and evolving requirements.
• Desirable: experience with finance systems and data structures.
• Desirable: familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and modern data stack tools.
• Desirable: background in enterprise transformation programmes.
• Desirable: knowledge of GDPR, financial reporting standards, or sector-specific data controls.

Responsibilities

• Define the enterprise data architecture vision, standards, and roadmap.
• Design the initial data platform to support integration with core systems and future needs.
• Evaluate and drive adoption of modern data technologies and patterns (data lakehouse, ETL/ELT, event streaming).
• Establish data modelling, quality, metadata, lineage, security, and governance processes.
• Build and lead a small team of data professionals (engineers, analysts, stewards).
• Embed architectural best practices and influence stakeholders to adopt a data-driven approach.
• Embed in ERP transformation teams to define data interfaces while ensuring security.
• Ensure data solutions integrate with financial and operational systems.
• Provide architectural oversight across data design and implementation.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and internal risk controls.
• Translate regulatory requirements into actionable principles and designs.

You will be part of a dynamic team that aims to design and implement a new data platform, ultimately ensuring the creation, integration, and consumption of high-quality, compliant, and trustworthy data across the organization. This is a hybrid role, and we offer a fixed-term contract of 12 months with full-time hours.
