Job summary

TRIA, a major European transport group, is recruiting a Data Architect in Central London to lead the group data architecture strategy across BI and analytics. The role reports to the Group Data Director and balances architectural excellence with practical delivery in a large multi-country environment.

You will partner with Lead BI Engineers and senior stakeholders to shape data standards, evaluate new technologies, and ensure scalable, secure data solutions that support self-service insights

Qualifications

• Solid experience in data architecture for enterprise-scale solutions.
• Proficient in data modelling techniques (dimensional, data vault, medallion).
• Strong SQL skills and cloud data platform experience (AWS, Databricks, Snowflake).
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT, data lakes/lakehouse, warehousing architectures, and data governance.

We are representing a large European transport business, employing around 35,000 people across the UK and Europe, who are in the midst of an ambitious enterprise-wide modernisation programme. This is a brand-new role within the business, reporting into the Group Data Director. As Data Architect, you will be responsible for defining and delivering the group data architecture strategy that underpins BI and self-service analytics capabilities across all operating units. You will establish the technical vision, standards, and frameworks that ensure data solutions are scalable, secure, and fit for a large, complex, multi-country organisation.

Working closely with Lead BI Engineers, BI Developers, and senior stakeholders, you will serve as the technical authority on all matters of data architecture, balancing architectural excellence with practical delivery, and playing a critical role in evaluating and adopting new technologies.

We are looking for:

• Solid experience in data architecture, with a track record of designing and delivering enterprise-scale data solutions
• Proficiency in data modelling techniques (e.g. dimensional modelling, data vault, medallion architecture) and strong SQL skills
• Experience with cloud data platforms, particularly AWS, as well as platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake; exposure to Azure or GCP is beneficial
• A good understanding of modern data engineering patterns including ETL/ELT, data lakes, lakehouse, and warehousing architectures
• Expopsure to data governance frameworks, metadata management, and regulatory compliance

It would be a bonus if you have:

• Familiarity with emerging technologies such as Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, real-time/streaming architectures, or data observability tooling
• Experience leading architecture workshops with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• A background providing technical mentorship to BI Engineers or Developers
