About The Role

This is a really exciting, hands-on role where you’ll be providing insightful data analysis and management information to support the Customer Hub management team using Power BI, SQL, Databricks and Excel.

Through root cause analysis you’ll be identifying areas for improvement within the Ecotricity’s domestic customer journey, and the wider operational processes within the company, to ensure that we are always improving the level of service provided to our customers and creating greater opportunity for business growth.

This role isn’t just about providing data, it’s about demonstrating an understanding of the bigger picture and how the data you provide feeds in to a wider process or business need, engaging with key stakeholders along the way.

You will have specific targets and KPIs to be met in line with the company vision which will be key to your personal development.

About the team

The Customer Hub is responsible for almost all customer contact and supporting processes, from sales, to billing, to supporting customers when things go wrong or they need extra help with their energy – it’s the front line for engaging with our customers.

You’ll sit within the Operations Change Team, within the Customer Hub, who deal with all change and insight needs across the Customer Hub. This ranges from delivering government schemes, to operational improvements, and providing insight to stakeholders and regulators. The change we make starts with data – and that’s where you come in. As well as owning the maintenance of existing reporting, you’ll provide insight to support effective change, drive us forwards, and ultimately help us grow as a business and provide a better experience for our customers.

What you will do

  • Gather and interpret data, and analyse results using statistical techniques to provide insight with actionable outputs.
  • Take ownership for the data you provide, ensuring you understand the ask and the output required, and validate this data by performing your own checks and due diligence
  • Design and develop new, user-friendly reports that enable self-service and require minimal maintenance.
  • Take ownership for delivering all asks made of you on time and to specification.
  • Run and facilitate requirements-gathering workshops with stakeholders for new data and insight requirements.
  • Provide data to support business and regulatory needs, performing root cause analysis to provide meaningful, actionable insight.
  • Use data to proactively identify opportunities to reduce failure demand, and improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
  • Familiarise yourself with and follow technical best practices and align to the wider business governance for data analysts.
  • Be an active member of the Eco Data Analyst community.
  • Maintain data quality, resolving any problems with data owners and engineers.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships across the business.

About You

You will be an experienced Data Analyst with an existing understanding of Power BI, Excel, SQL, data manipulation and presentation, and problem solving. A knowledge of the Energy industry would be a bonus, but not necessary.

This is an outward facing role requiring a communicative and collaborative attitude, and inquisitive nature, suiting someone who is natural at building relationships. You’ll need to be comfortable speaking to a wide range of people, including senior management and stakeholders, keeping them continually informed, explaining findings and communicating possible solutions, and be able to translate and communicate technical requirements for/from any given audience.

Knowledge and skills

  • Strong analytical and inquisitive mindset
  • Experience using Power BI and writing SQL for data gathering and presentation. Experience using Databricks is helpful, but not essential.
  • Stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to derive and communicate conclusions and recommendations from your analytical results.
  • Provide clear commentary on findings, both in written form and when presenting to an internal audience.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skill.
  • Energy experience is beneficial, but not essential.

If you like the sound of the role but don’t meet all the requirements, we encourage you to apply. We are interested in meeting people from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences. Come and join our team and be a key part of driving Ecotricity’s green future.

About Us

What's in it for you

  • Healthcare plan, life assurance and generous pension contribution
  • Volunteering Day
  • Hybrid Working
  • Various company discounts (including shops, gyms, days out and events)
  • Holiday of 25 days (plus bank holidays) and ability to buy/sell days
  • Cycle to work scheme, car pooling and onsite parking available

As a valued member of the team, you will be supporting the Group Environmental Policy and its associated sustainability objectives and targets.

Flexibility statement

The fast moving nature of the company's business means that from time to time you may be asked to perform duties or tasks outside of your original job description on an ad hoc basis. This allows the company to use its people in the best possible way at all times and helps the employees to make their contribution in a changing environment.

Ecotricity is Britain's greenest energy company. When we started back in 1995, we were the first company in the world to provide a new kind of electricity - the green kind.

Our mission was, and remains, to change the way energy is made and used in Britain - by replacing fossil fuels with clean, renewable energy.

We don't just supply green energy, we use the money from our customers' bills to make it ourselves too - we build windmills, sun parks and green gasmills in Britain. We call this turning 'bills into mills'.

Some of our biggest achievements to date include building Britain's first megawatt windmill and the country's first grid-scale sun park, as well as building our first green gasmill, generating 100% green gas from a source that we will never run out of: grass.

We don't just focus on energy though- we built the Electric Highway, Britain's leading network of electric vehicle charging points; we helped Forest Green Rovers become the greenest football club in the world; and we launched Britain's greenest mobile phone service, Ecotalk, where they use the money from their customers' bills to protect and regenerate Britain's lost rainforests.

Ecotricity is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to providing equality for all.
