A recruitment agency in the UK is seeking a hands-on Data & Analytics Engineer with expertise in modern data platforms and analytics tooling. The role offers broad ownership from platform architecture to dashboard delivery. Candidates must be UK-based and the position will initially be a 6-month contract, focusing on end-to-end data environments.

Qualifications

  • Strong SQL and data modelling skills required.
  • Experience with Fabric, Databricks, Synapse, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or PySpark for transformation and orchestration.
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools like Data Factory and Dataflow Gen2.
  • Expertise in dashboard performance tuning essential.
  • Cloud-native mindset with Azure or AWS experience.
  • Comfortable with REST APIs and ML Ops tooling.
  • Experience in Agile delivery and test-driven development.

Responsibilities

  • Architect relational and Lakehouse schemas using modern platforms.
  • Rebuild legacy SSAS cubes into scalable Lakehouse models.
  • Design and govern data pipelines through medallion architectures.
  • Build ETL/ELT flows across various systems.
  • Deliver dashboards using Power BI or similar tools.
  • Prepare datasets for AI/ML workflows.
  • Implement CI/CD, Git-based source control, and workspace deployment automation.
  • Define and enforce data governance standards.
  • Upskill analysts through documentation and engagement.

We're seeking a hands-on Data & Analytics Engineer with deep technical expertise across modern data platforms and analytics tooling. This role offers broad ownership-from platform architecture to dashboard delivery-and is ideal for someone who thrives in end-to-end data environments.

This role does have on-site requirements and will initally be a 6 month contract.

Core Responsibilities
  • Architect relational and Lakehouse schemas using Fabric, Databricks, or equivalent platforms

  • Rebuild legacy SSAS cubes into scalable Lakehouse models

  • Design medallion architectures and govern data pipelines

  • Build and orchestrate ETL/ELT flows across ERP, WMS, ecommerce, IoT, and APIs

  • Deliver performant, insightful dashboards using Power BI or similar tools

  • Prepare curated datasets for AI/ML workflows and automation

  • Implement CI/CD, Git-based source control, and workspace deployment automation

  • Define and enforce data governance, lineage, and catalog standards

  • Upskill analysts through documentation, enablement, and stakeholder engagement

Ideal Skillset
  • Strong SQL and data modelling (dimensional, 3NF)

  • Experience with modern data platforms: Fabric, Databricks, Synapse, or similar

  • Proficiency in Python and/or PySpark for transformation and orchestration

  • Familiarity with orchestration tools like Data Factory, Dataflow Gen2, or Databricks Workflows

  • Expertise in dashboard performance tuning, DirectQuery, and incremental refresh

  • Cloud-native mindset: Azure, AWS, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines

  • Comfortable with REST APIs, GitHub Actions, and ML Ops tooling

  • Agile delivery, peer reviews, and test-driven development
