Job summary

1st Central offers a unique Data & Analytics Apprenticeship, with hands-on experience across various data functions within a supportive environment. Alongside earning while you learn, apprentices receive a structured Level 4 and then Level 6 qualification in Data Analytics without the debt, all while contributing meaningfully to real projects that shape the company's data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs (C/4 or above) including Maths, English, and STEM subject.
• A keen interest in data or technology, with any experience in coding as a bonus.
• Good Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Data Governance processes to ensure data is used legally and ethically.
• Develop low to mid complexity data processes using SQL, Azure, and Python.
• Create Power BI dashboards and reports for informed decision making.

We’re on the lookout for a Data & Analytics Apprentice to join us at 1st Central. This isn’t your average apprenticeship – you’ll get hands-on experience across all areas of data, working with the people who help us make smarter, faster decisions every day. And the best part? You’ll be earning while you learn - starting with a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Data and Analytics, followed by a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Digital and Technology Solutions (Data Analytics pathway). Yep - a degree, without the debt!

• Strong academic foundation - you’ve got solid GCSEs and A-Levels (or equivalent), ideally including Maths, Science, or a tech-related subject.
• Organised and self-aware - you know how to manage your time, stay on top of tasks, and you’re not afraid to speak up or ask for help when you need it.
• Eager to learn - you’re genuinely excited about diving into the world of data - from engineering and dashboards to governance and data science.

What’s involved:

Over 3 & 1/2 years, you’ll rotate across our awesome Data & Analytics teams and get a full 360º view of the data world:

• Business Operations: Carry out operational activities associated with the efficient running of a large data department, such as communication, risk management, finance, resource management.
• Data Visualisation and Reporting: With support from more experienced colleagues, create Power BI dashboards and reports that help our colleagues make informed decisions.
• Data Engineering: Develop low to mid complexity data processes from a variety of internal and external data sources using technologies such as SQL, Azure, Python & support the design and implementation of data models in databases and data lakes.
• Data Governance: Carry out data quality assessments and support the operation of Data Governance process that ensure FCG cares and uses its data legally and ethically.
• Data Science: Support Data Science teams in creating models and analysis that help automate decisions and identify new business opportunities.
• Data Requirements Analysis: Work with colleagues in our business pillars to capture and document data requirements, creating user stories that describe what our data engineering teams need to build.
• Data Project Management: Support the Product Owner and Scrum Master in managing the on-time delivery of a set of Data projects and initiatives.

Oh - and you’ll do all this while working towards your qualifications, with plenty of support from your managers, mentors and our amazing training provider.

Experience, knowledge, skills & qualifications

• 5 GCSEs (including Maths, English, and at least one STEM subject) at grade C/4 or above, plus 2 A-Levels (or equivalent)
• A keen interest in data or technology, with bonus points for any experience in coding (like Python) or a general love for maths, science or tech
• Good Microsoft Office skills
• A quick learner who enjoys picking up new ideas and ways of working
• A great communicator who’s comfortable talking to different people
• Collaborative by nature, but also confident working independently and seeing tasks through
• Organised, proactive and full of energy - you manage your time well and get stuck in
• Detail-focused, with a drive to produce high-quality work
• Naturally curious and ambitious, always looking to grow
• A problem-solver who enjoys a challenge and isn't afraid to ask for help when needed
