The Role
An exciting opportunity for a data analyst with software development experience to work in a newly established team delivering software modelling and analytic services in support of Babcock's strategic submarine maintenance and disposal programme in support of the UK Royal Navy.

Day-to-day, you'll operate in a team of data analysts and software developers responsible for designing and delivering modelling and analysis capabilities and running programme analytics for the UK submarine programme:

  • Developing operational and strategic business knowledge and using it to intelligently develop business scenarios / options and their analysis using modelling techniques.
  • To work as part of a high performing team to design, deliver and operate the team's overall modelling and analysis service.
  • Undertaking modelling and analysis of scenarios on behalf of the client and business to answer important strategic questions supporting decision making and planning of the submarine programme
  • Supporting development of analytic and modelling concepts and develop software to improve and enhance capabilities
  • Establish the data and information needs for analysis and proactively engage stakeholder to ensure it is secured.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site 5 days a weeks at our Bristol Technology Centre (BTC) site, North Bristol.

Essential Experience of the Data Analytics Software Developer:

  • Career experience developing Python software solutions to solve complex analytics problems, from business user needs through to successful deployment and support.
  • A strong relevant academic background.
  • Excellent logic and problem-solving skills and an ability to rapidly translate this into successful software solutions.
  • A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for outputs, including timeliness, quality, and reliability of software.
  • The ability to adapt rapidly and positively to changing priorities, objectives, and workloads.
  • Evidence of excellent team working and actively harnessing wider diverse teams to develop the best software solutions.
  • Skills utilising the power of MS Excel for problem solving and Power BI for complex data visualisation.

Qualifications for the Data Analytics Software Developer:

  • Relevant degree (Maths, IT, Computing etc.) or strong relevant academic or vocational background.
