This data and analytics support comes from the CDAO (Chief Data & Analytics Office) division in Europe and part of Vanguard’s IT department. This division centralises data & analytics capabilities and transform how crew use data so that clients and investors can thrive.

Within the UK Personal Investor data and analytics team (within CDAO Europe), we’re looking to use our capabilities to better advise the business, provide teams and SMEs with key data sources to enable self-service, and finally to enable more detailed and robust analytics, automation and data science capabilities within the team. This role is critical to these objectives and a great opportunity for an existing crew member to upskill in analytics whilst working within a European division of a global CDAO department.

In this role you will

  • Engage with internal partners to understand business strategy, questions, and goals.

  • Bring structure to business requests, translate requirements into an analytical project approach, and support projects through completion.

  • Acquire and compile structured and unstructured data and verifies its quality, accuracy, and reasonableness.

  • Perform analyses of historical data to surface trends and insights using analytical methods.

  • Prepare and deliver self-serve capabilities, data visualisations and internal presentations that translate analytic insights into tangible, actionable solutions for business partners to implement.

  • Own and manage recurring analytic or reporting processes, as needed.

  • Participate in special projects and performs other duties, as needed.

  • Aligns with and evolves agile work management frameworks (including documentation).

  • Invest time in upskilling on technical data tools, concepts and frameworks (for example, data science, cloud computing and data visualisation) and sharing these learnings with the team.

What we are looking for

  • Data-driven mindset: Keen interest in analytics and data driven decision making within the business.

  • SQL / data wrangling experience: familiarity with extracting and formatting data from a variety of source systems ideally using SQL.

  • Pythonexperience: working knowledge and experience using Python.

  • Advanced Excel: strong excel skills and familiarity with aggregating and analysing data in partnership with the business.

  • Product specific knowledge: familiarity and experience within retail platforms, third party recordkeepers, and client services model would be beneficial.

  • AWS: Experience with AWS (particularly Athena, S3 and glue ETL) again preferable but an understanding of cloud computing infrastructure and capabilities a big plus.

  • Agileways of working: understanding of Agile tools (specifically JIRA) and ways of working (specifically Kanban).

  • Proactive ‘get stuff done’ attitude: ability to self-manage and self-motivate, with an ability to learn quickly and proactively deliver and communicate results.

  • Strong communication skills: ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with a range of cross-functional teams, including communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
