Job summary

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is seeking a Data Analyst to join the Psychometrics team and support examinations staff and examiners. The role focuses on data analysis, reporting and quality assurance to ensure high standards in assessments.

Hours are standard with potential for flexible/hybrid working. The successful candidate will have a strong quantitative background, knowledge of R/RStudio, and excellent communication for reporting to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Good undergraduate degree in a science or social science subject.
• Proven experience of quantitative research methods and ability to write academic-style reports.
• Postgraduate masters in a science or social science subject is desirable.
• Highly-developed interpersonal and communication skills; able to prioritise and manage competing demands.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine analyses of examination data (item analysis, reliability, inter-marker reliability, standard setting statistics) and write reports for examination boards.
• Support examination staff in using bespoke psychometric software.
• Produce routine reports contributing to examination quality assurance processes.
• Analyse data to inform best practice and inform decisions.
