Overview

Data AnalystEnergy Trading Support role focused on data-driven decision making to support energy trading activities. This role involves forecasting, reporting, automation, and analysis tasks to optimise trading strategies and enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will work closely with the trading team to ensure accurate submissions, insightful analysis, and effective automation of processes.

Responsibilities
  • Trading Support and Forecasting: Collaborate with the trading team to forecast and automate the submission of daily bids for trading activities. Develop and refine forecasts for renewable energy generation to support daily trading submissions. Conduct short-term market analysis to support strategic decision-making in trading activities. Identify and implement strategies for trading Share Energy wind generation assets in wholesale markets.
  • Performance Reporting and Recalculation of Settlement: Analyse and report on forecast vs. actual demand and generation positions to inform energy trading strategies. Develop reporting of daily and weekly trading performance of energy-only costs across the various wholesale electricity trading markets. Automate the processing and recalculation of daily wholesale market settlements. Assist in developing dashboards to monitor trading KPIs and performance metrics of wholesale market trading.
  • Data Analysis and Insights: Analyse historical customer usage patterns to interpret energy trends and forecast energy contract costs. Prepare projected contract costings based on customer usage patterns and market trends.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Proficiency in Advanced Excel and data visualisation tools such as Power BI, or other relevant applications.
  • Strong experience in data modelling, managing large datasets, and analysing complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
  • Experience in extracting data from multiple sources, processing it efficiently, and automating routine tasks to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets to provide actionable insights and support trading decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Location and Working Pattern

This role can be based in Belfast or Derry/Londonderry, with hybrid working pattern available. Regular travel between Belfast & Derry/Londonderry will be required.
