Full time, Monday – Friday (Onsite only)

Salary up to £35,000 per annum depending upon experience

Sitting within a beautiful and secure site, the Defence Academy hosts 2 lakes and is surrounded by acres of scenic woodland. The Academy trains the future commanders and staff officers of all three UK Armed Services and those from many countries around the world.

As a data analyst, you will support the Defence Academy's Support Operations Team in delivering transformational change in different business / digital / data / technology areas. You will use a range of methods, tools and techniques to analyse, interpret and present data for strategic business decisions. You will also create reports, communicate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the business, and present complicated data in accessible formats.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Liaise with stakeholders from across the Academy in the provision of timely, accurate data reporting.
  • Work with systems and data owners to collect, standardise and cleanse data.
  • Organise, interpret, structure and present data into information for strategic business decisions.
  • Conduct trend analysis of data to support recommendations, innovation and strategic decision making.
  • Support the development of data processes and common ways of working across the data community.
  • Support the Senior Business Analyst in adhoc tasking.
  • Undertake learning and development and upskilling as required.

What we are looking for:

  • Advanced data analysis skills using Excel including:
    • Proficiency in using advanced formulas and functions such as VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and SUMIFS.
    • Ability to create and use PivotTables and PivotCharts for data summarization and analysis.
    • Knowledge of data visualization techniques and the ability to create dynamic charts and graphs.
    • Familiarity with Power Query and Power Pivot for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills along with good interpersonal skills
  • Rigorous and thorough with an attention to detail/accuracy
  • Support the creation of Power BI dashboards, and using Power BI with Excel datasets (Desirable)
