Job summary

Qualifications

• Commercial experience as a Data Analyst or similar role
• Good SQL skills and ability to query relational databases
• Experience building dashboards and presenting data visually
• Ability to turn analysis into meaningful conclusions from large datasets
• Strong communication skills to explain findings to non-technical stakeholders
• Interest in user behaviour and digital products and understanding metric changes

Data Analyst

Greater Manchester | Hybrid role (2-3 days on-site)

An established and highly successful digital business is looking for a Data Analyst to join its technology team, taking ownership of reporting and analytics across a platform used by millions of people.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a couple of years' commercial data experience who enjoys getting beyond simply producing reports. You'll work with large datasets, help the business understand how its customers behave, analyse the impact of product changes and experiments, and turn complex information into clear, useful insights.

A key part of the role will be bringing greater consistency to how data is used across the organisation. You'll help create a reliable single source of truth for key metrics, build and maintain dashboards, and make it easier for teams across the business to make informed decisions without multiple people extracting and interpreting the same data in different ways.

What you'll be doing

You'll work across a broad range of data and analytics projects, including:

• Building and maintaining dashboards and regular business reporting
• Using SQL to query and analyse large datasets
• Presenting analysis in a clear and accessible way to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Analysing customer behaviour across the company's digital products
• Measuring the impact of new products, features and pricing changes
• Analysing results from A/B tests and experiments run through the company's internal experimentation platform
• Identifying trends, unusual behaviour and opportunities within the data
• Helping establish consistent KPIs and reporting across the organisation
• Supporting product and commercial teams with ad-hoc analysis
• Developing your knowledge of web analytics and Google Analytics
• Over time, exploring more sophisticated statistical modelling and other ways of extracting value from the company's data

What we're looking for

You don't need to be an expert in every area. We're looking for someone with a solid grounding in data analysis who is curious, commercially minded and comfortable investigating a problem rather than simply being told which report to produce.

You’ll ideally have:

• Commercial experience working as a Data Analyst, Product Analyst, BI Analyst or similar
• Good SQL skills and confidence querying relational databases
• Experience building dashboards and presenting data visually
• The ability to work with large datasets and turn analysis into meaningful conclusions
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to explain findings to non-technical stakeholders
• A genuine interest in user behaviour, digital products and understanding why metrics change

Experience with MySQL, GCP, Looker Studio/Data Studio, Google Analytics, A/B testing, product analytics or statistical analysis would all be useful, but you aren't expected to have everything.

The company has a huge amount of data and plenty of scope to do more with it, so this role should particularly suit someone who wants to develop beyond traditional reporting and gradually take on more sophisticated product and statistical analysis.
