HS2 Ltd is seeking a Data Analyst to support the Senior Data Analyst by delivering accurate data analysis, modelling, and reporting. You will contribute to insights that inform investment decisions and drive performance across the Data Intelligence Team.

You will develop data models, robust reporting packs, and dashboards that reveal key trends for leadership review. A focus on data quality and cross-functional collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• Membership of a professional association (e.g., RICS/ACostE/ICES) and degree or equivalent experience, or NVQ Level 2 in Project Controls.
• Ability to analyze external factors such as inflation and market trends.
• Proficient in Power BI and MS Excel with experience building interactive dashboards across large datasets.

As a Data Analyst at HS2 Ltd you will support the Senior Data Analyst by delivering accurate and timely data analysis, modelling, and reporting. Your work will generate valuable insights that inform investment decisions and drive performance improvements across the Data Intelligence Team.

About The Role

• Assist in the development of a comprehensive benchmarking database and contribute to the reporting process to deliver timely, accurate insights that support informed decision-making.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining robust data models that support interactive dashboard visualizations, enabling management to identify key issues and take informed action through root cause analysis evaluation.
• Analysing construction project control processes and interrogating client workflows to design and document business processes with a focus on digital transformation.
• Responsible for periodic and ad-hoc reporting, taking ownership for its quality, accuracy, and robustness, and ensure the monthly project review pack is compiled and presented to the leadership team on time.
• Support the Senior Project Controls Data Analyst to establish, monitor, and manage the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) and periodically collate KPIs & progress data related to time, cost, risk, change and quality to report to senior leaders of the project.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of a robust performance measurement system such as Earned Value Management and ensure its integration into periodic reporting frameworks.
• Support the integration of schedule, cost, scope, quality, change, and risk data to deliver a comprehensive view of project health and analyse the insights within the monthly reporting pack to enable timely and informed decision-making.
• Share lessons learned and best practice within the Project Controls community.
• Support the Senior Data Analyst in the production of regular and ad-hoc MI and progress reports at the relevant level (Contract, Phase or HS2 Programme).
• Manage large volumes of data and the analysis of performance data, identifying key trends and issues, articulating analysis through appropriate charts and summary narratives, to inform business decisions.
• Manage large volumes of cost data from both internal and external sources and will be responsible for converting this into meaningful intelligence.
• Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

About You

• Membership of RICS, ACostE, ICES, or a similar relevant professional association, and degree qualified or equivalent experience, or achieved NVQ Level 2 in Project Controls. Additional certifications such as APM PFQ, PMQ, or EVM are highly desirable.
• Ability to develop an analysis of external influencing factors such as inflation and market trends.
• Proficient in Power BI and MS Excel, with experience working across varied complex datasets to develop interactive dashboards and extract meaningful business and performance insights.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of the Microsoft Power Suite of applications, able to use Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI to build input forms, develop workflow processes and generate attractive & interactive visualisation.
• Working knowledge of schedule management, cost management and risk management principles.
• Ability to manage stakeholders and information flow in a matrix environment, possessing a strong aptitude toward working horizontally across business areas, providing specialist advice as required.
• Knowledge of transport, energy, major infrastructure, or construction projects (under NEC Forms of Contract), specifically surrounding client and consultancy.
• A continuous improvement mindset.

Type Of Experience

• Proven experience in Project Controls and Data Analysis, delivering key products within large-scale infrastructure projects and applying hands-on methodologies to support successful project delivery.
• Proven experience in transforming and structuring large datasets using Power Query, and skilled in advanced data analysis with DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for generating deep insights and calculations.
• Expertise in Advanced Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data visualization, and automation to support robust data analysis and reporting.
