Job summary

Hastings Direct is seeking a Data & AI Engineer to design, build and support scalable data and AI solutions enabling analytics, automation and AI-driven outcomes. You will optimise Snowflake-based data platforms and create automated pipelines with governance and security in mind.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to promote best practices in SQL, Python and data modelling, while driving adoption of AI/ML technologies and ensuring scalable, observable data workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience with Snowflake including SQL development and data modelling.
• Experience with Azure services such as Data Factory, DevOps, Functions and Logic Apps.
• Proficiency in Python for data processing and solution development.
• Understanding of cloud-based data platforms and modern data architecture.
• Exposure to AI/ML or generative AI in business contexts.
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for high-quality solutions.
• Familiarity with modern data engineering tools (Airflow, dbt, Dataform).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management to explain technical concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and support scalable data/AI solutions for analytics, automation and business outcomes.
• Develop and optimise Snowflake-based data platforms for reporting, data science and ML workloads.
• Create automated, observable data pipelines meeting governance and security standards.

• Drive adoption of AI, ML and generative AI technologies for innovative solutions.
• Improve platform performance, scalability and operational efficiency with AI governance and MLOps.
