Job Summary

The Financial Analyst works under minimal supervision to conduct financial analysis, research the drivers behind revenue cycle data to ensure accuracy, make needed calculations and report institutional information. This position requires the ability to provide complex reporting and analytic support to various management levels related to strategic decision making, as well as leading troubleshooting efforts on healthcare claims databases. Maintaining productive relationships by communicating effectively with department leaders, hospital staff, and other stakeholders to deliver exceptional financial analysis and recommendations is essential. The role involves collecting, integrating, troubleshooting, interpreting, forecasting, and presenting data, including analytical projects. Attention to detail, strategic understanding, and the ability to work with incomplete information are crucial. The candidate must manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates advanced Excel skills (macros, pivot tables, external data ranges); understanding of SQL and relational databases (20%)
  • Strong understanding of revenue cycle KPIs - Charges, Payments, Adjustments, and Denials, and their relationships in Epic (10%)
  • Prepares weekly/monthly financial reports and data reviews for management (10%)
  • Ensures processing and reporting deadlines are met (10%)
  • Develops analytics and financial models to evaluate business performance (10%)
  • Assists with ad hoc analysis and special projects (10%)
  • Identifies problems and opportunities for improvement (10%)
  • Develops solutions involving others, ensures implementation and documentation (10%)
  • Explores new opportunities to enhance report creation (10%)

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Data Analytics, or Healthcare Management preferred but required

Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years in healthcare or health insurance (required)
  • 1-3 years EPIC experience in reporting/analysis (required)
  • 4-6 years in an analyst role (preferred)
  • 4-6 years Epic experience in reporting/analysis (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles
  • Strong knowledge of Epic and revenue cycle processes
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to change
  • Proficiency with various software and information systems
  • Attention to detail with strategic awareness
  • Ability to work with incomplete data and develop informed assumptions

Salary: $67,200.00 - $104,200.00 / yr
