What's involved with this role:

JOB TITLE: Damp And Disrepair Manager
REF: Bristol 5273255
Pay rate: £389.84 per day PAYE

The role:

On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Damp And Disrepair Manager to support the Head of Service and other managers in leading teams that deal with complaints, disrepair and damp and mould issues, including housing condition cases brought against the authority in partnership with legal services.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting with the managing and leading of the damp and mould and disrepair teams to ensure all claims and legislative issues within Repairs and Maintenance are successfully investigated and completed without delay and in accordance with prescribed timescales.
Accountable for ensuring delivery of high-quality work, getting work done “right-first-time” and achieving high customer satisfaction within budgetary targets whilst providing cost effective and value for money services in order to resolve any confirmed defects. This includes monitoring the work of the trade teams & contractors from start to completion.
Provide a professional service, leading by example and providing expert witness advice and reports to a range of officers in relation to technical housing matters as required.



What the client is looking for:

Degree-level education in building surveying, environmental health, or a related construction field (or equivalent).
Extensive senior-level experience in housing services (social or private sector).
Proven ability to manage and supervise a range of staff (surveyors, technical and support teams, contractors) to achieve high performance.
Skilled in motivating and developing staff to enhance service delivery, take ownership, and ensure timely, high-quality outcomes.
Experience in leading projects, developing policies, and driving service improvements.
In-depth knowledge of housing disrepair legislation and the ability to lead on legal matters related to housing condition claims.
Capable of scrutinising disrepair cases to improve outcomes, reduce legal costs, and enhance service efficiency.
Committed to learning from complaints and using insights to drive service improvements; strong team collaboration.
Excellent communication skills, including report writing for legal and formal proceedings.
Skilled in budget management and financial analysis; proficient in Microsoft Office and open to learning new technologies.
