The starting salary for this position is £32,512 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.
We are excited to be hiring a new Damage to County Property Assistant to join our fantastic Damage to County Property team.
The team are based at Merrow Depot in Guildford, but we promote a hybrid approach to working, with a minimum of two days collaboration within the office. We are proud of our achievements in the recovery of tax payers money and we are now looking for someone keen to help increase our successes.

About the Role
Our aim as the Highways Damage to County Property Team is to recover costs of damage that has been caused by a known culprit, for example when a car drives into a traffic light, we will look to recover the costs that have been incurred. We take pride in providing a pragmatic and tenacious approach to enhance the recovery that we make.
As a Damage to County Property Assistant, you will be responsible for investigating and leading on a variety of incidents of damage to Highway assets. In this exciting role, no day is quite the same, but on a general basis you will be responsible for reviewing claims that come through via our management system or email, determining the best course of action and creating detailed evidence packs for recovery of claims. A key part of your role will be collaborating with Surrey Highway teams to ensure we have the evidence required, or requested, for a claim. You will need to be able to build good relationships with residents and other members of the community to help obtain evidence for some cases, such as dash cam or doorbell footage. You will then use your effective communication skills to lead on negotiations with 3rd parties to ensure successful outcomes for the council.
