Role Purpose

The DAAS service are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced front-line practitioner to join the independent domestic abuse advocate (IDAA) team in the Public Protection Unit. This offers a unique opportunity to hone skills in risk assessment, safety planning, high risk case management and working closely with partners to mitigate risk and improve outcomes for victims and their families. Anyone interested in developing their domestic abuse knowledge/skills would gain invaluable insights into effective risk management and the benefits of working in partnership to tackle gender based violence. Access to the national Professional Development Award (PDA) Independent Domestic Abuse Advocacy (IDAA) qualification will be provided and the successful postholder supported to complete the award.

The position will be based in the Public Protection Unit, Langlee, Galashiels, and will be an agile working pattern - the working pattern will be 28hrs over four days, with 2 days office based, 2 days home based. DAAS is an established service and the successful candidate is assured of a robust induction and the support of an experienced team. DAAS was awarded Leading Lights Accreditation in 2023, in recognition of the robust policy framework, staff support and standards of practice assessed as meeting the national Safe Lives standards

Professional qualification in a related field, such as social work, education, health, criminal justice, housing or probation studies and/ or an equivalent level/range of experience gained in a specialist sector

A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post. * If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability. Should it be possible to make such an adjustment in order that you can undertake the travel responsibilities of the post, this will be taken into account in consideration for this role.
