Role Summary

The DA Wordings Technician will play a key role in ensuring that all delegated authority (DA) contracts, including binders and sub-delegated agreements, are drafted, reviewed, and maintained to a high standard. This role requires a strong understanding of delegated authority frameworks, insurance wordings, and regulatory requirements to ensure clarity, compliance, and operational efficiency.
The position involves working closely with underwriting, compliance, legal, and operational teams, as well as external partners (brokers, carriers, coverholders) to produce robust and accurate contractual documentation.

Role Accountabilities

  1. Delegated Authority (DA) Documentation Management
Draft, review, and amend binder wordings for delegated authority agreements.
Prepare and oversee Binding Authority Agreements (BAA) and Endorsements in line with company processes and regulatory standards to include experience in drafting LMA3113, LMA3113A and LMA3114 BAAs.
Ensure all contracts clearly define scope, underwriting parameters, compliance obligations, reporting requirements, and performance expectations.
Produce support documentation/summary templates from binder contract wordings.
  2. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
Ensure all wordings and agreements adhere to Lloyd’s, FCA, and company-specific requirements.
Work alongside compliance teams to support audits, contract reviews, and timely resolution of queries or findings.
Maintain awareness of changing regulatory requirements, particularly around delegated underwriting.
  3. Operational Support
Assist underwriting, delegated authority and operations teams by ensuring accurate and timely issuance of contractual documentation.
Support the management of contract endorsements and amendments throughout the binder lifecycle.
Maintain an up-to-date wordings library for delegated authority contracts, endorsements, and related templates.
  4. Technical and Strategic Input
Provide technical expertise on wordings and clauses for new and existing DA agreements, ensuring consistency across business lines.
Collaborate with underwriters and carriers to ensure clear articulation of risk appetite, scope, and reporting expectations within agreements.
Assist in identifying areas of contractual risk or ambiguity and suggest practical solutions.
  5. Stakeholder Management
Act as a key point of contact for wordings-related queries from internal teams, brokers, and capacity providers.
Support external audits and due diligence exercises by providing clear, accurate, and well-documented wordings support.
  6. Process Improvement
Continuously review processes related to DA and sub-delegated binders to identify opportunities for efficiency and quality improvement.
Develop and implement best practices for binder wording management.

Role Requirements

  2. In-depth understanding of binders, sub-delegated agreements, and related insurance wordings.
  3. Familiarity with Lloyd’s Delegated Authority rules and FCA requirements.
  4. CII or ACII qualification (or working towards) – not essential but desirable.
  5. Exposure to international business, including knowledge of global delegated authority frameworks – not essential but desirable.
  6. Experience with contract management systems or wordings libraries – not essential but desirable.
