Job description

Job Summary

The post holder will:

  1. Perform data entry tasks in the Cytology office using the Enterprise LIMS.
  2. Answer phone calls and take appointment bookings.
  3. Answer telephone helpline enquiries and refer on queries to other areas if necessary.
  4. Check request forms against patient history to allocate to appropriate work streams.
  5. Scan request forms and history documentation into DART database.
  6. Match microscope slides and request forms and transport them to the screening room.

Main duties of the job

  1. Entering patient details onto the Enterprise LIMS.
  2. Entering patient results onto the Enterprise LIMS.
  3. Scanning daily of request forms into DART database.
  4. Responding to all telephone enquiries and keeping records.
  5. Making enquiries to GP surgeries, Consultants and other hospitals.
  6. Looking up patient histology on external hospital systems.
  7. Informing the Office Manager, on a regular basis, of any work backlogs.
  8. Carrying out general clerical duties i.e. Filing, photocopying.
  9. Carrying out daily audits on negative Gynae and non-gynae request forms.
  10. Carrying out daily direct referral query, using Excel and sending by secure email to internal and external Colposcopy clinics.
  11. Carrying out weekly direct referral query for each Colposcopy clinic that receives daily direct referrals sending by secure email.
  12. Dealing with andrology appointments booking and printing appointment calendar from Outlook.
  13. Assisting in the training of new starters.
  14. Matching microscope slides and request forms and transporting them to the screening room.
