Responsibilities

  • Lead on the logistics of driving and maintaining an ECC fleet of bikes for the sole purpose of Bikeability training in schools.
  • Liaise with ECC booking administrator to ensure awareness of delivery and collection times.
  • Target schools with low uptake of Bikeability training through promotions.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Core Team.
  • Support the Active Travel Team to deliver policy objectives.

Cycle Fleet Operator

Fixed Term, Part Time

£25,081 per annum

Location: Witham

Please note this vacancy is available as a fixed term contract or secondment opportunity for up to 12 months. This is a part time position working 30 hours per week, the pro rata salary will be £20,335 per annum.

Please note this position will involve driving to deliver a fleet of bikes to various locations.

The Opportunity

Our Sustainable Transport team's priority is to create a Safer, Greener, Healthier County through the increased use of active travel and sustainable transport through modal shift, sustainably designed transport schemes and providing and promoting credible alternatives to the private car. The role will have these core responsibilities -transporting and maintaining a fleet of bicycles to selected schools across the county, supporting central government funded projects through the delivery of bike maintenance programmes, and organising and presenting assemblies in primary schools; all with the overarching aim of increasing participation in Bikeability training at all levels.

The role will require a highly motivated and committed person who can work independently, and with partners, have excellent communication skills with children and adults, and hold a cycle maintenance qualification (desirable) or equivalent experience

Accountabilities

  • Lead on the logistics of driving and maintaining an ECC fleet of bikes for the sole purpose of Bikeability training in schools and delivering cycles to selected schools county-wide.
  • Liaise with ECC booking administrator, to ensure that each school are aware of the delivery and collection times, as well as any specific requirements for the cycles.
  • Target schools with low up take of Bikeability training. This will involve organising and hosting class presentations or assemblies, to promote Bikeability.
  • Support the organisation
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Core Team on the delivery of assemblies and maintenance sessions
  • Support the Active Travel Team to deliver the objectives set out in the relevant policies such as Local Transport Plan, Cycling, Walking and Active Travel Practice Notes
  • Promote active and sustainable travel under the safer, greener, healthier campaign banner, and represent ECC at external Active Travel events.
  • Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.

Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a valid driving licence and, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
