Job summary

Forward Role is seeking a Cyber Software Engineer in Cheltenham to join a growing cyber security team. You’ll write real code on real cyber projects, with some leadership and mentoring as opportunities arise.

The role focuses on development, problem-solving and applied research—designing secure software across the lifecycle, collaborating with a small team and engaging directly with customers to shape what's built. Salary £55,000-£70,000 plus bonus; eDV clearance required.

Qualifications

• Solid software engineering experience with secure coding practices.
• Low-level desktop development experience on Windows and Linux.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages and ability to learn new ones quickly.
• Curiosity for solving tough problems and testing new ideas.
• Ability to work independently with a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure software across the full lifecycle.
• Work with a small, close-knit team to deliver quality work on time.
• Talk directly to customers and stakeholders to shape what gets built.
