The Cyber Security Technician is responsible for responding to security threats, attacks, and investigations. The role operates security tools and cooperates with Security Operations Centre (SOC) service providers in incident management. The Cyber Security Technician focuses on troubleshooting all cybersecurity matters, from detecting security issues and susceptibilities to inspecting security. The role maintains a working knowledge of the latest adversaries, tools, and techniques, and provides cybersecurity expertise to support the internal organization in securing information systems.

This role offers hybrid working, and travel will be required to the nearest GKN Aerospace site. Global travel will be required twice yearly.

How You'll Contribute

  • Follow all HSE rules and regulations. Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
  • Assist IT/OT teams to actively monitor threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Support in maintaining global cyber controls, operations, services (24x7 follow the sun principle).
  • Support escalation, response, resolution, and reporting of cybersecurity incidents and corrective actions.
  • Ensure high-availability service levels, technical controls, analytics, and operations support objectives on cybersecurity tools.
  • Work effectively as part of a multi-locational team.
  • Support development and maintenance of cybersecurity control processes, standards, and architectures.
  • Assess IT/OT environments including systems, networks, databases, and applications.
  • Support maintenance, administration, break/fix remediation (including root cause analysis), availability/capacity reporting, and health/performance monitoring.
  • Engage in the change management process with knowledge in assessing changes, operational readiness, lifecycle management, and performance delivery for cybersecurity solutions.

What You'll Bring

Essential:
⦁ Relevant Degree or equivalent experience
⦁ Minimum 5 years’ experience operating high availability & high performance infrastructure in a global manufacturing organization in roles such as security administrator, systems administrator, or network administrator
⦁ Experience working in a virtual, multicultural, global environment
⦁ Extensive experience in information security and/or IT risk management focusing on security, performance, and reliability
⦁ Solid understanding of security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization, and security
⦁ Knowledgeable in Security Information and Event Management
⦁ Knowledge of system architectures, understanding the risk impact of vulnerabilities on existing and future designs, and ability to assess exploitability.

Desirable:
⦁ Knowledge of aerospace regulations and export control requirements
⦁ Ability to work with business and technology stakeholders to understand security implications of business changes
⦁ ITIL certification
⦁ Knowledge of NIST CSF, ISO 27001, Data Protection, and other regulatory environments
⦁ Background in network and firewall administration, Cisco Certified Network Associate—Routing and Switching (CCNA)
⦁ Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or CISSP.
