Job description

The Vacancy

We are actively seeking a talented, highly skilled and motivated Cyber Security Technician to join our growing team. This is a full time, permanent role, based at our head office in Helsby, Cheshire offering hybrid working arrangements, minimum 3 days per week in the office.

Reporting directly to the Group IT Infrastructure Manager, the successful candidate will also be responsible for providing advanced security technical support to the organisations end users.

The role will be primarily responsible for liaising with our Information Security Officer and Senior members of the infrastructure team to maintain and implement security changes to continually improve and maintain a high standard of security.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and analyse security systems for potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Implement and maintain security tools and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection
  • Respond to security incidents and perform incident response activities
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure the overall security of the organization's infrastructure
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest cybersecurity threats and trends
  • Document security processes and procedures
  • Provide technical support to end-users on security-related issues
  • Escalate to manufacturers support when required
  • Monitor and maintain the network infrastructure's cyber security

Person Specification:
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols
  • Previous proven experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM)
  • Previous proven experience with penetration testing and vulnerability assessments
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, Network+, CISSP) are a plus
  • Good understanding of security best practices
