Nuclear Restoration Services is seeking a Cyber Security Specialist to protect information and services, manage security controls, and build a strong security culture across the organisation.
You will work with colleagues and service providers to identify risks, strengthen resilience, and continuously improve security arrangements. Interviews planned in late October 2026, with potential early closure if high volume of applications.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cyber Security Specialist to play a key role in protecting our organisation, our information and the services we provide. This is a varied and influential position where you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day assurance of cyber security controls, working with colleagues and specialist service providers to identify risks, strengthen resilience and continuously improve our security arrangements.
You'll be joining a role where your expertise can make a real difference. Alongside managing technical security activities, you'll help build a strong security culture across NRS, providing trusted advice, raising cyber awareness and supporting our preparedness for emerging threats and incidents.
Working closely with colleagues across the business and our IT service provider, you'll provide practical cyber security expertise and assurance to help protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of NRS information and systems. You'll have the opportunity to influence improvements, manage key technical workstreams and contribute directly to our wider cyber security and resilience programme.
We're looking for someone with a strong grounding in IT and cyber security who can combine technical knowledge with a practical, collaborative approach. You'll be comfortable assessing risks, working with different stakeholders and translating security requirements into clear, pragmatic solutions. Just as importantly, you'll be able to communicate confidently with colleagues and help make cyber security relevant and accessible across the organisation.
We are looking to hold interviews week commencing Monday 26 October 2026, however, please note that this vacancy may close earlier than the stated deadline should we receive a high volume of applications, so we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.
If you require assistance at any point during the recruitment process contact careers@dounreay.nrservices.uk at the appropriate time so we can make any necessary, reasonable adjustment.
Please note: All successful candidates who do not already hold security clearance will need to provide proof of identity, eligibility to work in the UK, and employment/education history (typically covering the last 3-5 years) in line with NRS Baseline Security requirements. Some roles may also require full Security Clearance, which involves additional checks. For details, please refer to the Defence Business Services National Security Vetting (DBS NSV) guidance.
