Job summary

Pontoon is seeking a Cyber Security Specialist to join a Data & Machine Learning team across several UK locations (Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh or Leeds). The role combines cyber security with cloud and AI initiatives, ensuring security by design and regulatory compliance in production-ready AI platforms.

Work will involve collaboration with engineering, data and product teams, threat modelling using IriusRisk, and guiding security reviews of cloud-native solutions hosted in Google Cloud

Qualifications

• Proven background in cyber security within complex enterprise environments.
• Experience with threat modelling and risk assessments.
• Familiarity with AI/ML data platforms and analytics security.
• Knowledge of cloud security, especially GCP.
• Experience with security governance, assurance, and approvals.
• Ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience using Jira, Jira Align, and Confluence in Agile delivery.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to ensure security and compliance.

• Provide cyber security guidance for Generative AI, BI, and analytics platforms.
• Conduct threat modelling and identify risks across the development lifecycle.

Job Title: Cyber Security Specialist

Location: Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh or Leeds (2 days per week onsite)

Remuneration: £600 per day (Inside IR35 via Umbrella)

Contract Details: Initial 6-month contract with strong likelihood of extension

Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled Cyber Security Specialist to join their dynamic Data & Machine Learning team. This exciting role involves supporting a variety of innovative AI initiatives within one of the UK's leading financial services organisations. The team is currently engaged in multiple platforms, ensuring that AI use cases are secure, compliant, and production-ready.

This position sits at the crucial intersection of Cyber Security, Cloud, and Artificial Intelligence, collaborating closely with engineering, data, and product teams to uphold security best practises and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teams developing AI and Machine Learning solutions across the organisation.
• Review and assess AI use cases to ensure security, compliance, and readiness for production deployment.
• Provide cyber security guidance and best practises for various AI initiatives, including Generative AI, Business Intelligence, and advanced analytics platforms.
• Conduct threat modelling activities using IriusRisk.
• Identify security risks, vulnerabilities, and devise mitigation strategies throughout the development lifecycle.
• Ensure solutions meet internal cyber security standards, governance requirements, and approval processes.
• Work closely with both technical and business stakeholders to embed security-by-design principles across AI platforms.
• Support security reviews of cloud-native solutions hosted within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Maintain clear documentation and effective communication with stakeholders via Jira, Jira Align, and Confluence.

Required Skills & Experience

• A strong background in Cyber Security within complex enterprise environments.
• Experience in conducting threat modelling and security risk assessments.
• Familiarity with AI, Machine Learning, Data, or Advanced Analytics platforms.
• Knowledge of cloud security principles, especially within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Proven experience working with security governance, assurance, and approval processes.
• Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Agile delivery tools such as Jira, Jira Align, and Confluence.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience securing AI or Generative AI solutions.
• Experience within financial services or heavily regulated environments.
• Understanding of secure AI adoption, AI governance, and emerging AI security risks.
• Exposure to Data Science, Machine Learning Engineering, or MLOps environments.
