Job title: Cyber Security Specialist

Job Purpose:

TESTQ Technologies is an IT services and solutions company whose offerings spans over variety of industry sectors with strong technical, domain and process expertise helping clients grow their businesses and decrease operational costs on continuous basis in an ever-changing business environment. This opportunity is in the solution design and development arena for Cyber Security Specialist who will play a major role with the technical design and development of the company’s technical offerings. The role is based at our Leicester office with occasional assignments at client locations.

Job Description (Main Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Monitor and respond to cybersecurity incidents and alerts in real-time.
  • Identify security vulnerabilities through regular risk assessments, audits, and penetration testing.
  • Implement, manage, and maintain security tools such as firewalls, SIEM, antivirus, EDR, and DLP systems.
  • Conduct threat analysis and simulate attack scenarios (red/blue/purple teaming).
  • Lead security awareness programs and employee training sessions.
  • Collaborate with IT and DevOps teams to enforce secure development and deployment practices (DevSecOps).
  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and documentation aligned with regulatory standards.
  • Stay up to date with current security threats, trends, and technology updates.
  • Manage access controls, authentication, and identity management systems.
  • Support compliance initiatives (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, NIST).

Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience Needed [The candidate must demonstrate these in all stages of assessment]

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in cybersecurity or information security roles.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewalls).
  • Proficiency with security tools (e.g., Wireshark, Splunk, Nessus, Burp Suite, Metasploit).
  • Experience with endpoint security and threat detection platforms.
  • Familiarity with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container security.
  • Working knowledge of identity and access management (IAM), MFA, and zero-trust models.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with SIEM platforms such as Splunk, IBM QRadar, Microsoft Sentinel, or ArcSight. They should be proficient in configuring and managing enterprise firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems, including those from Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, and Fortinet.
  • Strong skills in endpoint protection platforms like CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, or Sophos are required. Knowledge of vulnerability management tools such as Qualys, Nessus, and OpenVAS is essential, along with penetration testing frameworks like Metasploit and tools like Kali Linux, Nmap, and Burp Suite.
  • Candidates should also be able to write basic scripts in PowerShell, Python, or Bash to automate security tasks. Experience in managing cloud security configurations using AWS IAM, Azure Security Center, or GCP Cloud Armor is expected. An understanding of compliance frameworks—including NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, and HIPAA—is necessary to ensure regulatory alignment.
