Job description
Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Cyber Security team as we begin to implement the next phase of our multi-layered cyber defence environment at Kingston University. Our vision is for IT to be a valued business partner, providing innovative, secure services to 17,000 students and 2000 staff. As a Cyber Security Specialist, you will be involved in all aspects of cloud security within the organisation, operating and supporting key security systems and services that underpin the protection of Kingston's digital services, infrastructure, data and users.

You will use your extensive expertise to help maintain and secure our environment. You will contribute to the day-to-day management of Information and Cyber Security operations and work closely with IT teams to secure the technology and develop/update security standards and policies to safeguard digital services, ensuring they are secure and fit for purpose, enabling the University to deliver its strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Administer cybersecurity systems and services, both cloud-based and on-premises, to ensure the University's IT assets, systems, users and data remain secure and compliant.
  • Manage and maintain core threat protection tools and associated infrastructure to mitigate risks and defend against security vulnerabilities.
  • Educate the organisation on cybersecurity best practices for cloud computing and contribute to the development of security solutions that enable secure adoption by default.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across related disciplines to integrate cloud security solutions and toolchains with the University's broader enterprise security capabilities.
  • Support day-to-day management of Information and Cyber Security operations and assist in developing and updating security standards and policies.
Qualifications / Experience
  • Extensive and relevant experience in IT best practices, including proven expertise in managing enterprise security platforms.
  • Strong technical skills with a deep understanding of IT security management and the ability to assess information systems, IT services and threats.
  • Experience in resolving network and system issues, with a solid grasp of endpoint security and compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of protective techniques and the ability to implement secure, compliant cloud and on-premises solutions.
Role Details
