About the Job
Games Workshop has an exciting opportunity for a Cyber Security Operations and Vulnerability Engineer to deliver pivotal IT Security initiatives. We are looking for someone who thrives in environments that demand resilience, decisiveness, and the courage to hold firm under pressure.
As a Security and Vulnerability Engineer, you will be a key member of the wider IT function in supporting the business to safeguard Games Workshop's digital assets, intellectual property and operational environments from cyber threats and cyber security risks.
This role will see you collaborate with the wider IT team to proactively manage vulnerabilities, implement, and use threat detection tools in accordance with our change control processes. Fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement will ensure a seamless integration of security operations.
This role requires a hands-on approach as you manage vulnerability tooling to assess and track risks across all platforms, including endpoints, servers, websites, and mobile applications. With effective communication skills, you will make improvements by building a network of strong relationships across the Infrastructure Teams as you analyse vulnerability data to prioritise, coordinate and verify patching and remediation efforts.
Highly astute with a natural ability to nurture connections, you will manage the relationship with the external Security Operations Centre to enhance SIEM and SOAR tooling focussing on reducing false positives, refining detection logic, and improving automated capabilities. We'll rely on you to ensure all tasks are completed with the highest level of accuracy, ensuring you work alongside the external Security Operations Centre to monitor security alerts, manage escalations, and operationalise threat intelligence. Working in the best interests of Games Workshop will ensure the best commercial outcome is achieved whilst safeguarding the best service.
Combining technical capability with a can-do attitude and optimistic approach, you will have a detailed understanding of vulnerability management tools including Qualys, Tenable, or Rapid7 and how they integrate into enterprise patching and asset management.
We are looking for someone who thrives in environments that demand resilience, whilst using your natural curiosity to understand systems and uncover root causes behind vulnerability, finding workable solutions that balance business need and technical risk. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of TCP/IP networking, OS-level security, Windows, Linux, Mac, and cloud security principles, Azure and/or AWS and familiarity with the full vulnerability lifecycle from discovery and assessment to risk rating, remediation, and exception management.
At Games Workshop we are looking for people who will do their best to understand the needs of the company and to put those needs first when they are at work. Because of this we believe that what you are like, hence the attitude you show to work and the way you choose to behave is even more important than your skills and experience.
The Warhammer World site is based just outside of Nottingham city centre and benefits from a nearby tram stop and free onsite car parking.
In return for your hard work, you will receive 33 days holiday per year (including public holidays), matching contributory pension scheme up to 7.5%, profit share bonus (subject to GW meeting profit targets) and option to join our Share Save scheme. Oh and let's not forget, a staff discount of between 25% and 50% on our products!
