Job summary

Tencent Overseas IT in London is seeking a Cyber Security Intern to join the Security Engineering team. This hands-on placement covers SOC, cloud security, vulnerability management, and incident response while working with Senior Security Engineers.

You will gain exposure to Microsoft 365, firewalls, cloud services and endpoint security, supporting protection of business systems and data. Mentoring from experienced engineers and involvement in security governance are included.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Cyber Security, Computer Science or Information Security degree.
• Interest in cyber security, cloud technologies and enterprise IT.
• Familiarity with Windows and Microsoft 365.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication; able to work in a technical team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Tier 1 SOC alert triage, investigation and escalation using Microsoft Sentinel.
• Investigate potential security incidents from firewalls, Microsoft 365, Slack, and other cloud services.
• Perform log analysis across SIEM and cloud platforms to identify suspicious activity.
• Support vulnerability management and remediation activities with IT teams.
• Contribute to security reviews and risk assessments for new initiatives including AI tools and SaaS integrations.
• Assist in implementing and validating security controls (firewalls, email security, endpoint protection).
• Participate in security exercises to validate SOC detection capabilities.
• Document incidents, investigations and recommendations for Senior Engineers.
