Job Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Cyber Security Incident Responder (IR) to join our dynamic team. The role involves maintaining the security and resilience of Element’s digital infrastructure by managing cyber incidents. You will work closely with stakeholders to develop a 24/7 operational cyber defence capability, with opportunities to apply your experience in Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR).

This position requires on-call work and overtime during serious cyber attacks. Location in the UK is flexible.

Responsibilities:
  • Help build Element’s IR capability following industry best practices (NIST, SANS)
  • Govern and coordinate cyber incidents, act as lead incident manager, conduct investigations, determine root cause, and recommend remediation
  • Collaborate with IT, Privacy, Legal teams, and senior stakeholders; prepare incident reports
  • Conduct post-incident reviews for continuous improvement
  • Perform digital forensics and malware analysis on artefacts to assess risks
  • Work with the Senior Manager Incident Response to develop cyber defence metrics and KPIs
  • Stay updated on cyber threats and technologies
  • Develop relationships with external stakeholders like law enforcement and cybersecurity vendors
Key Skills:
  • Minimum five years’ experience in cyber security
  • 3-5 years in digital forensics and managing large cyber incident responses
  • Experience in complex, federated organizations; understanding of public/private sector cyber defence
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or certifications (CISSP, CISM, GIAC)
  • Attention to detail, analytical skills, decision-making under pressure
  • Cultural sensitivity and social flexibility
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Self-motivated, security as an enabler for business growth
  • Knowledge of SIEM tools and advanced hunting queries
Experience Needed:
  • Managing serious cyber incidents as a digital forensic incident responder
  • Working in large, complex enterprise environments
  • Understanding of security monitoring and intrusion prevention systems
  • Technical expertise in networks, malware analysis, digital forensics
  • Effective communication with senior stakeholders
