Job Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Cyber Security Incident Responder (IR) to join our dynamic and growing team. The role involves maintaining the security and resilience of Element’s digital infrastructure by managing cyber incidents. This is a unique opportunity to be a key member of Cyber Defence, working closely with stakeholders to develop a comprehensive 24/7 operational cyber defence capability. Experience in Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) is encouraged.

This position requires on-call duties and overtime during serious cyber attacks. Location in the UK is flexible.

Responsibilities:
  • Build Element’s IR capability following industry frameworks like NIST and SANS.
  • Lead cyber incident management, conduct investigations, determine root causes, and recommend remediation.
  • Collaborate with IT, Privacy, Legal teams, and senior stakeholders; prepare incident reports.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews for continuous improvement.
  • Perform digital forensics, malware analysis, and assess incident impact.
  • Develop cyber defence metrics and KPIs with the Incident Response team.
  • Stay updated on cyber threats and technologies.
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders for information sharing and collaboration.
Key Skills:
  • At least five years’ experience in cyber security.
  • 3-5 years in Digital Forensics and managing complex incident responses.
  • Experience in large, federated organizations across public and private sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields or certifications like CISSP, CISM, GIAC.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity and social flexibility.
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated with a security-first mindset.
  • Knowledge of SIEM tools and advanced hunting queries.
Experience Needed:
  • Managing serious cyber incidents as a digital forensic incident responder.
  • Operating within complex enterprise environments.
  • Understanding security monitoring, intrusion detection, firewalls, antivirus, and web proxies.
  • Technical expertise in networks, malware analysis, and digital forensics.
  • Effective communication with senior stakeholders.
