Our mission is to continue refining, scaling, and evolving our ability to enable others to deliver genomic healthcare and conduct genomic research.

We are accelerating our impact and working with patients, doctors, scientists, government, and industry to improve genomic testing, and help researchers access the health data and technology they need to make new medical discoveries and create more effective, targeted medicines for everybody.

Job Description

As a Cyber Security Engineer within the Cyber Security squad, you will contribute to the standardisation of security best practices across Genomics England, using Automation and Configuration as Code to achieve this.

Working closely with Platform Engineers and Solution Architects, you will ensure the fast, smooth rollout of new designs and products, as well as assist with the deployment and maintenance of new security tools. You will configure and deploy security products and be confident in using them.

You should have a strong Security mindset, SOC analyst skills, and experience to train others. You will also automate security processes and ensure AWS best practices are upheld across the Engineering Chapter.

Skills and Experience for Success
  • Experience managing, building, and operating 3rd Party Security Software such as DarkTrace, CrowdStrike, CloudFlare.
  • Hands-on experience in hunting, monitoring, detecting, analysing, investigating, and responding to cyber security threats.
  • Ability to embed threat intelligence into Business as Usual (BaU) processes.
  • Experience with AWS Security Services (AWS Config, Inspector, Security Hub, GuardDuty, CloudTrail).
  • Knowledge of Terraform and Ansible.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally GitLab CI.
  • Previous experience in a DevOps/Squad culture.
  • Strong scripting skills, comfortable with writing AWS Lambda functions in languages like Python or others.
Qualifications

Qualifications such as AWS, Terraform, or Ansible certifications are beneficial. Being Certified in 'AWS Certified Security - Specialty' would be highly desirable.
