Location: We have hybrid working in place, with 1-2 days per week, in our office in Canary Wharf.

What exactly will you be doing?

As a Cyber Security Engineer at AAT, you will take a leading role in developing and delivering our security strategy. You will identify and address threats across our networks, platforms, and systems, making sure our security controls meet UK regulations, industry standards, and business needs. Your work will involve both technical hands-on security and clear communication with stakeholders, including reporting on incidents and sharing advice on best practice.

Major objectives

The major objectives are:

Monitor networks, platforms and cloud environments for intrusions, attacks and unusual activity.
Investigate security incidents, support incident response, and report findings in clear, practical language.
Develop, implement, and maintain security solutions - covering identity and access management, encryption, firewalls, endpoint security, logging, vulnerability management, and threat monitoring.
Maintain and improve our security certifications, including Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.
Ensure compliance with UK legal and regulatory standards, including GDPR, NCSC guidance and ISO 27001.
Research and apply the latest security developments and technologies, including AI-driven analytics and EDR solutions.
Provide practical security guidance to colleagues, supporting awareness and best practice.

What are we looking for?

Strong, practical knowledge of UK security frameworks, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, such as Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001, and GDPR.
Experience with Microsoft security tools, including the Defender suite, Sentinel, Entra ID, Purview, and cloud platforms (Primarily Azure & AWS).
Hands-on skills in areas such as identity and access management, endpoint protection, vulnerability and patch management, and cloud security.
Ability to explain complex technical issues clearly to different audiences, both technical and non-technical.
Experience working as a cyber security engineer or similar role in a regulated UK environment.
Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Cyber Essentials/Plus, Azure or AWS accreditations are desirable.
